Joseph Mühlfelder was born in Mühlfeld and when policy required Jews to use surnames, he took on “Mühlfelder.” When exactly Joseph moved to Bauerbach, and when he met and married Rosel Baer is presently unknown. In 1794, Joseph was registered as a general merchant and tobacco retailer in Bauerbach, and he and Rosel had their first child, Jonas, in 1794 in Bauerbach.
