& the Neigbourhood

As time has passed, knowledge about the Jewish families of Themar has broadened to include information about Jewish families in many other places in the state of Thuringia as well as in the neighbouring state of Bavaria.

Some of these families have a direct genealogical link to Themar and were identified as the grandparents of families who moved from one of the surrounding villages to Themar. (See “The Grans- and Great-Grandparents of the Jewish Families of Themar.“)

But some have no link to the Themar families and were identified as we learned more about the Jewish communities to the smaller centres and, in some instances, have contact with researchers in these places and/or with descendants of the earlier Jewish residents.

Should you have any further information, questions and/or comments, please contact Sharon Meen at  s.meen79@gmail.com We look forward to hearing from you.
