“Easter can come! At least the inhabitants of the district have already done a lot to get in the mood for it, as you can see from the magnificently decorated Easter fountains.”

“A group of women from Themar have literally revived a tradition. Under the umbrella of the “Themar meets Europe” association, they — the women of the “Creative for Themar” group — came together around five months ago “to use their creativity to beautify the townscape of Themar and make it more attractive for residents and visitors,” explains Sabine Hommel, one of the women. She writes: “So we remembered the old, almost forgotten frame of the Easter fountain, which was built around 30 years ago by employees of the Themar building yard and last erected ten years ago, and made it safe for reuse. Painted eggs from the women of the Volkssolidarität Themar were also found, gratefully received and made available for use. We then painted around 200 more eggs that were needed to decorate the Easter fountain. Important! The eggs are all real—blown out and painted by hand—and we also made the Easter crown from fresh brushwood. A special highlight are the wooden figures, which were made by Kersten Pfeffer from Themar. Special thanks go to the employees of the Themar building yard for their help and to TEAG Mobil for their financial support. The planting around the fountain was sponsored by the Themar Kirmesverein. The best reward for our work is the people who stop in front of the decorated fountain, are delighted with its appearance and take photos.”
