1. Samuel Bär, b. 1827 in Marisfeld, is identified as Bär in the Marisfeld Jewish records. He changed the spelling of his name when he moved to Themar.

2. Samuel Bär is identified as the son of Hirsch and Regine (NN) Bär in the Marisfeld birth register.

2. The word ‘murdered’ is used as defined in the Yad Vashem Database as follows: “During the Shoah, Jews were murdered in a variety of ways, among them gassing, shooting, burning, drowning or burial alive, exhaustion through forced labor, starvation, epidemic diseases, deprivation of medical care and minimal hygienic conditions, and more.”

1. Selma Schloss married Emil Bär in July 1910. Emil died in April 1913. Selma then married Hermann Stern in March 1917. Hermann Stern died in September 1933. See The Families of Selma Stern (née Schloss, widowed Bär)
2. The Register of Jewish Religious Marriages/Namen des kirchlich getrauten Ehepaares records the marriage of Rickchen Bär [Baer], b. 18 Jan 1856 Marisfeld and Simon Müller, businessman, b. 18 Jan 1854. Marisfeld. Family records identify the husband of Ricca Baer as Max Müller. The most likely explanation is that Simon Müller was known as Max but that his formal given name was Simon.
3. Hedwig Baer was the second wife of Abraham Stern. Abraham’s first wife, Caolina (née Lang) died in 1883. She was the mother of Marta Stern, b. 1879. Hedwig who married Abraham in 1887, became Marta’s step-mother.
