Damit du siehst, daß ich immer an dich denke, will ich Dir heute wieder einen Brief schreiben. Wir sind immer noch allein. Es sind fast alle von hier zu Hause, außer Adolph Julius u.[nd] Papa u.[nd] Norbert. Ich habe 2 Gesuche gemacht, mehr kann man nicht tun. Aber man kommt aus der Aufregung nicht heraus. Wir räumen das Lager, halb ist es enger schon fort. Das Auto hat auch verschiedene Liebhaber, so müssen wir uns von allem trennen was uns lieb war (Zwang) u.[nd] können nichts mitnehmen wenn wir einmal fort gehen. Letzteres ist unser heißer Wunsch, lieber heute als morgen. Der Lehrer Levinstein ist entlassen worden, nach Wachdorf gefahren u.[nd] weil sein Nierenleiden anscheinend immer schlimmer wurde, ins Wasser (Werme (sic)) gegangen heute früh ist er schon beerdigt worden. Es wäre ja doch nicht wieder gut mit ihm geworden. L.[ieber] Will[i] hast Du eigentlich deine Uhr schon bekommen? Ich sandte das Paket vor gut 4 Wochen schon ab. Ich habe auch eine Illustrierte geschickt, ich legte in letzteren (sic) einen Brief. Hast du ihn bekommen, hebe ihn gut auf, da er ein gutes Andenken ist. Ich habe deine letzte Karte b<…> Anscheinend bek.[omme] ich alle deine Post. Also Gummistiefel solltest du dir selbst kaufen. An Meinhold schreib[e] ich auch öfters, hoffentlich kann er seinen neuen Posten gut ausfüllen. Hast du den kl.[einen] Adler aus Erfurt gekannt, der ist auch im Lager am Herzschlag gestorb[en].

Ebenso der Meininger Ortmeiler. Ich schreibe es Dir gleich, wenn unser l.[ieber] Papa ja kommt. Tante Bertha liegt immer noch im Krankenhaus in Frankfurt. Wir erleben hier nicht viel, Theater Kinos u.s.w. [= und so weiter] sind uns verboten, Goldsachen wie Uhr u.s.w. [= und so weiter] dürfen wir nicht kaufen, Radio mag man nicht mehr hören. Und so freue ich mich nur, wenn ich Nachricht von meinen Kindern bekomme habe ich dir schon geschrieben von Albert bek.[ommen] wir jedenfalls Bürgschaft u.[nd] von Herbert schweed auch, es geht nicht so schnell. Aber was hilf[t] die Bürgschaft, wenn das Ausland nicht hilft, können n[och] Jahre dauern, bis man an die Reihe kommt. Oma hustet noch fleißig. Sonst nur noch herzl.[iche] Grüße von deiner dichl.[iebenden] Mama.

Der Rhinaer Mani ist vorigen Schabbes barmizwah geworden. Sie möchten gern auswandern, wissen aber nicht wohin, sie wohnen doch jetzt in Bad Nauheim, sie schreiben heute, ihr Rhinaer Haus ist weder vermietet noch verkauft. Wenn ich mal [ein] kl.[eines] Päckchen schicke, lege es zu den Sachen für Albert.

Onkel Sebald wohnt jetzt, ich glaube am Sandweg Sandstr.[aße] 25. I., hat im Ganzen 2 Zimmer, er hat seine Kinder für England angemeldet. Alle Kinder aus Thüringen sollen nach England kommen. Hoffentlich! [Eingeschoben: s. die Mutter von Laure ist da<…>]

In order for you to see that I always think about you, I want to write you another letter today. We are still alone. Almost everyone from here is home, apart from Adolph, Julius and father and Norbert. I have made two requests, one cannot do more. But one does not leave behind the excitement. We are clearing the warehouse, half of it is already gone. The car also possesses multiple lovers¹ and so we must part from everything that was dear to us (by force) and can’t bring anything with us, once we move away. Which is our most ardent desire, rather today than tomorrow. Levinstein, the teacher, has been fired, went to Wachdorf and, since his kidney ailment seems to have become progressively worse, went into water (because of the warmth) and is already buried today. He wouldn’t have gotten well again anyways. Dear Willi, have you already received your watch? I have sent the package four weeks ago already. Also, I have sent a magazine, in which I put a letter. Once you receive him, keep him very well, since he is a good souvenir. I have <…> your last postcard. It seems that I receive all your letters. So, rubber boots you should buy for yourself. I also write to Meinhold regularly. I hope he is doing well at his new position. Did you know little Adler from Erfurt? He has also died in the camp from cardiac arrest.

The same happened to Ortmeiler from Meiningen. I will write it to you immediately once our dear father is arrived. Aunt Bertha is still at the hospital in Frankfurt. We don’t experience much here. Theatres, cinemas etc. are forbidden to us, we are not allowed to buy golden items like watches etc. No one wants to listen to the radio anymore. And thus I am only happy when I receive news from my children. Have I already told you? We get a surety from Albert and also from Herbert Schmeed. but it doesn’t go that fast. But what is the surety good for as long as the foreign countries don’t help. It could still take years for it to be our turn. Grandma is still coughing a lot. Apart from that: Only dearest greetings from your mother, who loves you.

Themar 8th of December 1938.

Mani from Rhina had his Bar Mitzvah last Shabbat. They would like to emigrate, but they don’t know where. They live in Bad Nauheim now and they write today, that their house in Rhina is neither rented out nor sold. Should I sent you a small package, put it to the things meant for Albert.

Onkel Sebald is living here now, I think on Sandweg Sandstraße 25.I. (the mother of Laura is there), which has two rooms all in all. He registered his children for England. All children from Thuringia are to go to England. I hope so! [Inserted: Laure’s mother is there <…>]
