Max u. Clara Müller, Themar, an Meinhold Müller, Göteborg, den 15. April 1942

Lieber Meinhold!

[?]. Letzterem seine Frau ist auch gestorben. Von Fulda u. Eschwege [in Fulda lebten Louis u. Karoline Goldmeier, geb.

Max and Clara Müller, Themar, to Meinhold Müller, Gothenburg, April 15, 1942

Dear Meinhold!
Today, Wednesday 15.4. we received your airmail letter, postmarked 7.4. It doesn’t go any faster by airmail. We are surprised at your remark that you have not received any mail from us for about 6 weeks. We do not know how to explain this. We answer all mail from you as quickly as possible and hope that you will still receive our mail in transit. About 8 days ago we sent you a letter addressed to Herbert and Flora. Please let us know if you received it. Otherwise we are doing well, which we also learn from your letter today. Always lead yourself in such a way that the boss is satisfied with you. Everyone is the architect of his own fortune and you will be treated and paid according to your performance. And again and again I urge you to save money. Maybe we still need your help for us and when you have saved a little money, you will see how saving is fun and enjoyable. Where Sebalds are, we have no idea. We are also happy with your beautiful room and your good food in the hotel, we can also eat our fill. If it is possible, take it upon yourself to live strictly ritually again later. The main thing is that your new job has brought about an upswing in your circumstances. You will probably like your present job much better than the one before your illness. – Here, too, the air is still rough and spring is delayed by a few weeks, just as it is with you. – Uncle Max, [Markus and Else, née Kahn] Rosenberg, [Hugo and Klara, née Schloss] Grünbaum/[Arthur and Else, née Grünbaum, and Inge] Neuhaus, Wwe (widow) Frankenberg and Wwe [Meta] Krakauer still live here. From now on we want to number our letters again and you always confirm the letters to us. Have you heard anything from the Americans? And you probably can’t write to Willi? So let us know if our last letter for you and Herbert has arrived. Your schoolmate Schwarz (furniture factory) was also killed in action. Now I don’t know anything more to write about. Please continue to be well and greetings from your dad.

Dear Meinhold, We are always very happy to hear good things from your letters. Thank God we are healthy too, which is the main thing. Hopefully you are well acclimated in your new sphere of activity and the position is a permanent one. Make every effort so that your boss is satisfied with you. I believe that we have all received your mail. We write to you so often now. Hopefully, not all of our mail has been lost. Marianne Kahn from Marisfeld and her husband have been in an old people’s home in Frankfurt for some time, both are ill. He has arteriosclerosis, which has affected his eyes, and she has sugar. Her daughter Rosel’s husband also died. We are very interested in your description of a restaurant there, in general we are interested in all your descriptions from the area. Here, too, it is still cold at night and in the morning. But during the day it is very beautiful. – Only the butchers Kahn and [?] still live in Marisfeld. The latter’s wife has also died. From Fulda and Eschwege [Louis and Karoline Goldmeier, née Müller, lived in Fulda, and Hermann and Bella Müller, née Meyberg, lived in Eschwege] we have always had news so far, and Aunt Berta [Nussbaum, née Katz, the wife of Clara’s brother Felix] always writes. Let us hear from you often. Stay healthy and be sincerely greeted and kissed by your loving Mama.
