At the right you see the first document in the file that Julius Rosenberg titled ,,Auswanderung.“ In it, he kept all of the letters, receipts and other records that tell the story of how Julius sought desperately to emigrate from Germany with his non-Jewish wife, Else, and daughter Lotte, b. 1934. As the file illustrates, he tried every country and every possibility.
But Julius did not succeed and in 1943 he was arrested and murdered. Else andLotte, who grew up in Themar during the 1930s, survived the war in Darmstadt. In the 1950s, they emigrated to Canada. Else Rosenberg died in Vancouver in 1965
In 2012, Lotte Rosenberg, whose sister lives in Vancouver, contacted Sharon Meen and shared this file, other documents, and numerous images with us.
Below are all the documents in the Auswanderung file.
